The fundraising reception for the “Charles Rockey Sculpture” sculpted by artist Robert Morlan will be as follows.

Thursday, October 19, 2006

Unveiling of Bronze Relief, and reception:  6:00  p.m. – 8:30p.m.

At:  The Cliff House
        306 Canon Ave.
        Manitou Springs, Colorado

The figure sculpted by artist Robert Morlan is in a three-dimensional setting that portrays “Rockey” painting on a large canvas in the shape of a storybook.  Around the central figure are a lot of the characters that have come to life in Rockey’s paintings: fairies, gnomes, and small animals including “Puppy,” Rockey’s small companion of many years.  Around the base of the central figure, and other 3-dimentional elements (animals and fantasy figures), are large mushrooms to be used for seating.  The thought behind this is that people, children and adults alike, will use this as a gathering place for storytelling, reading or just to sit and observe the sculpture.

The sculpture will be installed at a yet to be determined site in the city of Manitou Springs.  The sculpture will be cast in bronze.  The photo you see displayed here is a bronze relief, 17x12 inches, which will be sold in a limited edition to raise funds to cast the larger than-life-size 3-dimensional setting.  You may call Linda or Rob Morlan for an appointment to view the fundraising piece if you are not able to attend the reception at the Cliff House.  The relief may be viewed on the website, www.sculptbronze.com. Telephone numbers are (719) 685-0602 or (719) 238-6214.

Donations may be sent to the “Rockey Sculpture Fund” at the Pikes Peak Community Foundation at PO Box 1443, Colorado Springs, CO.  80901.

Thank you.
